Close to the B&B are 2 very good fish restaurants, where the chef will prepare the fish, that fisherman brought in from the night before. Not to forget the port and perfect local wines. You really should try the Vino Verde. A white wine, produced in the Costa Verde. Or a delicious red wine from the rivers of the Douro.

Restaurants in Afife

Sr. Bacalhao

This restaurant is located only 40 meters from Casa Frank e Livre.

At the beginning of the street (apprx 40 meters away from Frank e Livre) you find Restaurant Sr. Bacalhao. It’s a great restaurant where Romeo and it’s team will welcome you with a variety of meal with fish- and/or meat. You can go the restaurant, but they are also offering take away meal on most days of the week.

Restaurant Mariana

On 100 meters from Casa Frank e Livre is Restaurant Mariana. The restaurant is a famous restaurant specialized in meals with fish. Even people come over from Porto especially to eat at Mariana for their delicious food.

You can eat your meal in the restaurant, but they have also the concept of take-away.

Cafe Moodz

A third possibility to have a coffee or meal in Afife is Cafe Moodz. Moodz is 1 km away from Casa Frank e Livre. You can choose your meal from the menu or you can choose the “dish of the day”. You can have a good meal for a good price.

Casa Frank e Livre is an in 2019 fully renovated farm (Quinta) in Afife, a village just above Viana do Castelo. This part of Portugal is also known as the “Costa Verde”. The casa is located close to the Atlantic Ocean. The view from the house on the ocean is stunning. On the other side of the house is a wonderful view of the North-Portugal mountains and forests. It’s also on one of the tracks of the Camino-do-Santiago hiking path.

Casa Frank e Livre is only 65 km away from Porto Airport. Afife can easily be reached by either car, train, bus, or on foot. Afife is located in the center of Costa Verde. It combines the Atlantic ocean and various beaches with the massive green inland hills. The climate can be classified as a Mediterranean climate: nice, bearable summers and mild winters. Due to Afife’s location close to the ocean, the area is well known for its specific microclimate and clean air!

The B&B has 3 two-persons bedrooms available for the guests. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom. More detailed information about the bedrooms can be found under “Accommodations”. There you can select, reserve, and book your room.

The B&B is all-year open. It has free parking spaces and is located close to restaurants and food stores.
